My Journey to God

Life is  a journey.

It is meant to bring me to God.

He is my destination.

He wants to share with me His gifts. 

Why else would He create me?

Whatever happens to me is for that purpose.

It takes me to God.

All that happens along the way

Is meant to bring me to Him

Or to your version of Him.

Everything that comes to me in life

Is a gift of God.

Everything!

There are no exceptions.

They are all opportunities.

They will bring me to God,

My destination,

The Source of all that exists

And He will give me of His essence.

Love, Peace and Joy.

I am not impressed by the word 

“God.”

How can a little word like that,

Capture the magnitude

Of this superlative being?

But what word could?

There’s none,

Absolutely none. 

Because He is not in a single word.

God’s magnificence can only be found in you,

Only in you.

It’s the place to search for Him,

The only place to find the Alpha and the Omega.

Look within,

It’s where the Source dwells.

You are the only tabernacle worthy of Him.

There is no other.

Value yourself,

Because you are the dwelling place of the almighty,

You are the Holy of Holies,

That’s where you will find Him.

Within, within,

That’s where God dwells.

It’s where you find wisdom,

Yours and God’s.

Value Him

And value the bearer,

That’s you,

The bearer of magnificence.

Know God and You’ll Get to Trust Him

     

And it also has been said,

Unless you know God

You’ll never be able see Him.

It’s obviously important to know God,

Because our happiness may depend upon it.

Maybe I need to know Him much better.

That would indicate a need 

 To have a relationship with God

Before I am able to trust Him.

It may be worthwhile to really know Him well.

Or maybe our problem is,

We were told it was up to us

To take control of our lives.

And that we don’t need anyone else’s help,

We can do it alone.

From experience I may someday learn that

“No man is an island.”

We can’t do it alone,

We need others. 

We may even need God.

Ask for help. 

He promised it.

Trust Him.

You’re his child.

He’ll always be there for you.

He always is!

Why Can’t I See God’s Goodness?

Am I the only one who’s blind?

That doesn’t seem fair.

What am I doing wrong?

What’s my problem?

What do I have to change?

That’s so sad,

Beauty stands before me

And I don’t even see it. 

I must lack Spiritual Vision,

God’s vision.

All the beauty of the world welcomes me,

And I don’t notice it.

What a shame!

It’s everywhere; but for me, it’s nowhere.

Maybe I need to ask for that vision.

“Ask and you will receive.”

It’s a gift,

Given by the giver of all gifts,

Of all goodness.

Gifts sometimes need to be requested.

I have to ask for the gift,

And I have to deserve it.

Maybe I have to do both.

What do I need to do to deserve it?

We’ll find that out.

Being One with God

To be One with God,

What a beautiful relationship that would be.

What a marvelous goal.

It would involve being close to God.

Imagine being so close 

You become One with Him.

How do you become One with God?

Who has ever considered that?

Isn’t that going too far?

Is that realistic? 

Is that possible?

Yes, it is!  

And what would that involve? 

Talking to God,

Listening for his voice within,

Thinking of Him,

Making Him present in your life,

And much more,

There will be subsequent poems

On being

One with God.
